 Welcome Ladies !

Fly fishing and protecting the beautiful places where one can cast a line and enjoy the peacefulness of nature has always been a great joy to many.   I am indeed one of those many and excited to be leading the Women’s Initiative in working with the members of Oklahoma Chapter #420 to increase the opportunities and programs for fellow women anglers.      Like many of you, I grew up fishing with my family… Those fishing outings created many fond memories of catching my first trophy bass, slaying sand bass during  the run, teasing a bullfrog to take my fly and exploring the beauty of ponds, rivers and lakes.             They say the fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree and clearly I and my family illustrate that premise.  Today, I find fishing alone or with friends truly enjoyable and the places travelled exciting.   But the best part is that I have instilled the love of fishing, and created a legacy with my young people. A legacy of enduring friendship, companionship, shared memories, and outings….. treasured family fishing trips where we are never at a loss for words.

This quote sums up why I fish…"Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after."                                         - Henry David Thoreau

You may be asking - What is Trout Unlimited’s Women’s Initiative?

So let’s begin…

Trout Unlimited's (TU) strategic plan includes the establishment of Women's Initiative (WI) Programs within each of the TU Chapters with the goal of increasing women membership and enhancing programs to be inclusive of all anglers including women.

Oklahoma Chapter #420 is embracing this vision and will be striving to increase opportunities that appeal to more women. Whether new to the sport, experienced angler, or just curious; there will be all kinds of ways to get involved.

Look for open house events, clinics and outings to cover topics such as Fly Fishing Tips and Techniques, Casting,Fly Tying, Reading the Water, Conservation Programs, Women's day-out fishing and much more. Would love to hear your ideas and share the excitement and the camaraderie with fellow women anglers. Plan to attend our Chapter's monthly meetings and check out the following to stay in touch with events and news.
